Dr. Nadia Hernandez

Chief Clinical Officer

Dr. Nadia Hernandez is the Chief Clinical Officer at OrthoMed Anesthesia, where she works closely with executive leadership to guide clinical strategy and support the growth of a rapidly expanding anesthesia organization serving surgical centers and specialty hospitals.
Her work focuses on aligning clinical excellence with sustainable operational performance. She collaborates with executive leadership to evaluate new facility opportunities, optimize anesthesia staffing models, improve clinical workflows, and support scalable systems that allow the organization to grow while maintaining high standards of patient care.
In addition, she oversees clinical quality initiatives, physician engagement, and education programs designed to support anesthesia providers across her network of facilities. Her background in regional anesthesia, acute pain medicine, and diagnostic point-of-care ultrasound informs her approach to building practical, high-value care models in the ambulatory surgical environment.
She is particularly interested in the intersection of clinical leadership, healthcare operations, and strategic growth. As physician-led organizations continue to navigate consolidation and evolving reimbursement models, she believes clinicians have an important role in shaping systems that are both clinically sound and economically sustainable.
Dr. Hernandez is a Texas native with medical training in New York City. Earlier in her career she worked in academic medicine as a Distinguished Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, where she helped build the Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Service at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center and founded the Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Fellowship at UTHealth. Her clinical work focused heavily on ultrasound-guided techniques for complex acute pain, including trauma and cancer patients.
She has always been passionate about teaching and innovation in perioperative care. Dr. Hernandez has given more than 200 invited lectures around the world, organized numerous educational events, and has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and over 80 scientific abstracts. She was inducted into the Academy of Master Educators at UTHealth.
